We Are Divine But We Forgot: Uncovering What’s Been Hidden Inside

Watch & Listen on YouTube

Our topic today is uncovering the God inside of you, uncovering the divine inside of you. Why would we need to uncover it? Well, because it has been hidden. It is interesting, because there are many ways in which it has been hidden and many means by which it has been hidden.

The one we are going to be dealing with today is the nature of the consciousness overlays that have kept us from realizing the truth of us. I am going to get a little bit mystical and cosmic with you here today to help us back up and understand something that the great ancients, seers, and rishis have understood for thousands and thousands of years. They have depicted it in stories. They have shared it in numerous ancient ballads, legends, books, codexes. The Vedas, the Bible, all of the ancient scriptures and books, tell the tale of this inner God hidden and awakening. The process of awakening is also taught through these books and these teachings. But they are, to a certain degree, hidden because they are for the initiated. They are for the ones who are ready to know such things, such truths, which are seemingly so far beyond the mundane understanding of who we are in our true nature.

The cosmic essence is preexistent to all that exists that we understand as the world, and the ancients knew this. There is this field, this source, this source field, this divine mother, this cauldron, this void—whatever you want to call it. It is really beyond any sort of name and even beyond our human understanding. It preexists even the universe, the multiverse, and particularly our world. It preexists this, and yet it is also the substance of it. It enlivens it and makes it able to exist. But when the world goes away, it will still be there.

“Thou art That,” that “It,” that is‑ness, is the preexistent unity that is our ineffable true nature. This is what beings are seeking when they are seeking enlightenment, when they are seeking awakening, when they are seeking self‑realization. Why would this be important when we are in a body, on a world, believing very wholeheartedly that we are an individual and sometimes even believing that we are a body? Why would it be important to tap back in and understand your connection to this divinity, this preexistent unity?

Well, over eons of time, in this worldly showcase, this play of life that we have been indulging in here on the earth plane, we have picked up all manner of thoughts and beliefs, ideas and concepts, habits and patterns, preferences, likes and dislikes—the clothing of which we call “soul.” Your soul is very informed, having spent multiple lifetimes in many worlds and on many planes and planets, having multitudes of experiences over eons of time. This sheath, this clothing of your conditioning, is what we call soul, and it has a perspective. When you come into a planetary sphere, when you come down and are born on earth, those patterns of soul are coming with you.

They are also attracting, to a certain degree, the parents that you pick, the life experiences that you are going to have. Then they get further informed by the culture in which you are born, by your particular parents, by the ancestral lineage, by your early childhood. You can see now how this continues to compound and compound.

If we can think of this just for a moment, backing way up and thinking of it on a cosmic scale, we can see how there would be quite a buildup after a while. Like the mud at the bottom of the lake after millions of years, there is sediment, there is debris, there is detritus, there is substance, there is particular thought‑substance which points to particular vibrations, which lead to particular experiences. We are feeling and thinking those, generally without realizing it, generally without being aware of the implications of the mass buildup of subconscious thought and energy in that bottom of the lake that we call our subconscious mind.

So the God that is you, the God that is everywhere and everything, has no choice but to filter through those patterns you are carrying. It is the light in the projector, and the patterns in the mud are the images that this light gets projected through. So if we want to change our experience of life, we have got to change our thought forms. In order to really get lasting change in how we think and how we vibrate and how we express in the world, we are going to have to dig in there and do a little cleaning now and then.

There are many, many, many ways to do this sort of cleaning work, and we will get more into that later. Generally speaking, though, it is very healing to simply be reminded that all the experiences that you have had in this life have been informed by this samskaric residue in the subconscious mind that some call karma. This is your karma, and sometimes when your karma is up and it has got a hold of you and it is taking you in certain directions, it may make it more difficult for you to live your dharma, to live your purpose.

Who are you really being? Who do you really wish to be? What do you really wish to have in life? What is truly beneficial for you? What is your soul, the inner essence of you, saying it wants to do to make a difference on the planet? What are the unique codes that you were birthed with as a spirit that want to come here and play? And how are those hindered by this residue that we are speaking of? Because it is hidden from you, and so is the fact that you are one with this divinity.

For most, maybe there are some of us who have gotten glimpses; I certainly have had many glimpses. I have had incredible experiences of knowing this. Then we come back into the world, so to speak, and those patterns kick up again, and we get back to work on dissolving them because now we know what they are. We know that when a situation comes up in life that is troublesome or annoying or irritating or grief‑giving, we can turn within to find the cause and to dissolve it there.

Now, that does not mean the world and all the people in it are not really doing what they are doing. They are. But you have attracted them. We are the creators. We are like Brahma. We are like the original creator God who manifests our world by thought and vibration and the Word. These are all indicating the same thing: these frequencies that go out from us, and this big pattern that we are carrying, are going to be in our face, in our life experience, until we decide to shift it.

That being said, of course there may be patterns which are beautiful and wonderful and that help us in life. Even those ultimately are not the ultimate you, but they are going to help you have a happy worldly life, and it is good to have a happy worldly life. If you have plenty of prosperity, if you have a good place to live and you are in positive surroundings and you have people who love you and you have good things to do that help the world, is it not going to make it easier for you to aspire higher and to take the time it takes to do that inner spiritual work?

That being said, if we do not have those things, that can also be instrumental in pushing us into the spiritual path, because when enough gets enough, we can thank God. We can thank the Divine within us: “Oh my God, God, you have just pushed me to the brink where I must know the truth of You and me now because I am so tired of this sorry world that keeps messing me up.”

So the negative experiences—the contrast, as Abraham likes to say—serve us by pushing us to the edge and making us grasp for that change that only we can make. You have probably tried to go out there and change other people. How was that for you? How did that go? We can have an influence on other people. We definitely can, and we can have a positive influence on other people. We can also have a negative influence on other people.

The more that we do that from within the cauldron of our own being, without getting angry at them or trying to force them to change on the outer, the happier we are going to be. When we are consternated because people are not behaving the way we want them to and we try to enact our energy of force or manipulation or control to get them to do something different so we are happy, we tie ourselves even more into a bunch. What have we done there? We have basically stated to the universe that we believe that that person out there, behaving a certain way, is what makes us happy or not happy. What does that do? It tells the universe and our subconscious mind that we think we are not the ones in control. What does that do? That is a belief, and beliefs are real for you even if they are not true.

They become real for us. They become crystallized and materialized into reality, so we get to experience more things like “I am a victim of my circumstances. Everybody has to behave a certain way or else I am not going to be happy,” and there are various permutations of that for each individual. They can be very intricate and fascinating, actually, when we dig in and do the work.

The bottom line is we must take that responsibility. We must realize enough of the truth that the thoughts within our own body‑mind‑spirit complex are what are bringing experiences to us personally so that we can do the work necessary to make the changes on the inside that will end up reflecting as changes on the outside. If we take that responsibility without also taking up the mantle of innocence, we might beat up on ourselves. We might be hard on ourselves. We might make ourselves wrong. We may judge ourselves, and we do not want to do that.

That is not the point. That would again cause the vibration to dive south. It would empower those deeper beliefs of unworthiness and lack of self‑love that have caused these troubles in the first place. So when we get to this phase, we are kind of in between a rock and a hard place—but in a good way—because if we go about trying to judge others, we are going to feel it and say, “Oh, no, no, no. Even though I really want to do that right now, I probably should not.” And if we try to judge ourselves, we are going to say, “Oh no, I have been down that path. That is not going to help me any.”

So it centers us. It puts us right in that straight, narrow pathway where we are like, “Okay, God, here I am with all my stuff. Here I am with all the baggage, with all the samskaras, with all the karmas, and I know you love me somehow, some way. I am going to believe that, even if I do not fully love it right now. You are me. I am You. You love me because I am the substance of You in expression here in form.” That is a bit of a mystery to us right now, we might say to ourselves, talking ourselves into higher alignment. “However, I am going to suspend disbelief for a minute and immerse myself in the possibility that I am loved, even though I have all these patterns.”

Now what starts to happen? The love current starts coming in. What do all the scriptures say? Why do they say this? They say, “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, might, and strength, and love thy neighbor as thyself.” Why do they say that, in various languages and different religions, with similar words? “Cast the burden on the Lord.” It would be really fascinating to see all the different scriptural references to that one thing, because it is so important.

When we open our mind and we put our precious attention on that perfection, that preexistent unity, that divinity, we are in a state of what has been called worship at that point. We are now worshiping the Divine by opening our heart and loving It full force and allowing that love to come back to us. What does that do for us? It begins, like a laser beam, like a supernova, to dissolve away any contrary thoughts in our subconscious mind, in our body‑mind‑spirit complex, to that eternal, unconditional love that we are. Many, if not most, of the beliefs that we have been talking about there, at the bottom of the muddy lake, are in fact non‑loving thoughts.

They have built up, and over eons of time we have come to conclusions: “Because I could not make this work and I could not make that work, I must not be lovable, or I must not be worthy, or I must not be good enough.” So we begin to dissolve away the general mantle of that negativity from our being by simply residing in the presence of that higher love. This is why, over eons of time, people have created many different depictions of this ineffable suchness, this God, this divinity. The ancient seers and rishis realized that there were many paths to God, and you could not ever really put God into a single form. However, you could worship God in a single form because it represents to you those higher aspects and that perfection. As you put your light on it and your attention on it and you love it, you will come closer to the perfection, the goodness, the qualities, and the character that that aspect of divinity represents.

In any given lifetime, people may attune with various aspects of divinity, and they may also go for the sort of cosmic, non‑substantial, etheric feeling and sense of God. That is more difficult for most humans. That path takes more concentration; it takes more belief in the so‑called unbelievable, that substance that cannot be seen. So you can see why and how these different religions and traditions got built up over time. When people knew what they were doing, they would have a teacher or a guru, and they would have a deity, an ishta devata, that they would worship. They would do that in order to come into vibrational harmony with that aspect of perfection that they were seeking to become one with.

Taking it a step further, they would actually utilize the astrology—the ancient Vedic astrology—which would inform them, particularly about their own soul’s journey and what was out of balance, so they would know which mantra to take and which aspects of God might be most beneficial for cutting through the karmas and samskaras and residue that were in their own subconscious mind. Even if we look at our beloved Jesus, we will see he has mudra going; he has his hands in prana mudra a lot of times. That is where the little finger and the ring finger are under the thumb, and the index and middle finger are pointing up. Then he will have that same posture: one hand going up and the other in front of his belly. Have you noticed that?

If you think about the rosary, what is that? It is a set of beads. In the Vedic traditions it is 108 beads, used for doing the mantra. So there are many, many, many similarities, and in fact one could say that these ancient teachings all come from a common origin, even though they have different faces.

Part of the dastardly aspect of the hidden nature of the Divine has to do with those who wished to keep people from knowing these things. So, like the Tower of Babel, they shattered the languages. They also shattered into fragments and splinters of religions the one great spiritual knowing that was on the planet before all that happened. If you can imagine with me a world wherein there was a very advanced technology, where there was beauty, harmony, and love, and where everyone, everywhere they went, recognized one another as aspects of the Divine—so just like a Buddha or a Babaji or a Shiva—now there goes Rachel and there goes Miriam and there goes Michelle and there goes Lindsey. These are aspects of the Divine in a form here on the planet, to be recognized, loved, and uplifted. There was this peace and harmony between and among people. They did not question each other, they were not competing with each other; they were all celebrating union with the Divine and on their path homeward together and individually. There was no need to make one better than another or make one wrong and one right.

This is something I have been contemplating deeply lately as I have been studying the deep history of this planet, which has also been hidden and sequestered for the purpose of keeping people from knowing the truth about themselves. Why would somebody want to do that? Well, you got me, but I guess it is because they were still in this control idea, and they felt like they needed something, and they felt like they needed to be in control and have people be in ignorance in order to be happy.

Well, that too shall pass. Nevertheless, we are here. We are awakening. The God within us cannot sit down, cannot stay back, cannot be held back. It is coming through. It is coming into you. You are awakening more and more every day. I am awakening more and more every day. At the same time, an incredible amount of wildness is happening on the planet: earth changes, crazy temperatures, volcanoes, earthquakes, sinkholes, water disappearing off the edges, animals dying en masse. There is some wild stuff going on, enough to indicate that we are in what has been predicted as those so‑called end times.

What does that mean for us, though, and why is that relevant to this conversation? Basically, the outer world is going through changes, but that should serve to drive you more into your inner world and your connection with the Godhead, with the Divine, with that aspect of love and light that is the truth of you. It all has a purpose in the grand scheme of things. The universe and the world are created, have a duration, and then end and dissolve. Everything begins, endures, and ends, and that is how it is here on the earth plane. That is how it is here in the universe. It is how the construct of a phenomenal world was originally created, on purpose. It is never going to last forever. But what does last forever is that Source within us.

That Source within us, which is actually the true “us” that we come to realize when we awaken, is our safeguard, our home, our residence, our highest perspective that can help us watch the changes on the earth, the shifting times, the beginnings and ends of every life form, every project, every business, every idea. They are all going to have a beginning, middle, and end. This helps us make peace with this constant flow of phenomenal reality instead of getting caught up and attached and then weeping and mourning over the loss and change of it. We can begin to stand in the eye of the storm and have that highest perspective of the Divine more and more and more.

Would it not be useful, in today’s times, to rely more and more on that inner connection with eternity, knowing that you will never end? You are eternal. Your form may change. The forms of those you love may change, will change, have changed. New beings will come; other beings will go. This is all part of life. How do we make peace with this passage and this change? We rest upon that inner knowing. We rest upon the truth, and the truth shall set us free. Indeed, it sets us free from bondage to the material plane and the realm of the senses in ways that have caught us up and created bondage, basically because of how we have been trained to think of ourselves as bodies and temporary beings.

If we think that this is all there is, then we might grab for it and want more of it and indulge in it more. If we realize that it is an ever‑flowing escapade of love and joy, we can laugh and have that starry moment of divine revelation where we realize our eternal nature. The wounds of grief, separation, fear, sadness may heal, and we may be able to enjoy the world. The world is here for enjoyment. It is here for beauty. It is here for love. It is here for harmony. It is here for well‑being. We can be in the world but not of it and enjoy it and join with it and allow our physical life to have that beautiful beginning, middle, and end.

At any day, any moment within our physical life, in our creative nature, we can initiate new beginnings. We can initiate a new beginning right here, right now, today. For anything that has been troubling, we can let it go and we can start afresh and start anew. My teacher—I have said this many times on this show; it warrants repetition—said, “Never give up on yourself.”

Now we can understand why he would have said such a thing. Here we are, eternal beings masquerading as limited souls with many patterns, believing that we are not the God that we are, forgetful and amnesiac, forgetting our power to create whatever we desire in the earth plane, forgetting our eternity, forgetting that everybody around us is an aspect of this same one God and therefore being at odds in various ways. All these realms of suffering point to that inner work, and that is why we should never give up on ourselves. We can always do the work, and it takes, according to the ancients, multiples of lifetimes to move through this stuff. That does not necessarily mean you are not right at that pinnacle lifetime right now, where things are going to be changed and you are going to be liberated from that deep well of samskaric residue and perhaps not pulled back into the earth plane in a limited form again, in a limited consciousness.

Maybe in your next lifetime you will be free to go to a different planet, or maybe you will desire to go back into the fullness of the glory of the Divine Source and rest there. Maybe you will want to take another body again. In other words, would you not rather be at choice after this lifetime, rather than sucked back in because of your karma, like a magnet, like a magnetic draw on your being pulling you back in and making you feel guilty as though you have to go complete this, this, and this because of the beliefs and the patterns and the residue and the memories and the imprints?

This is why we do this cleansing. This is why we create a beautiful life. This is why we do our work and be humble. We come to that balance of humility and self‑admiration and self‑love—that interesting balance that is neither arrogant nor self‑deprecating. It is a still point within where humility reigns supreme, because we realize, “Oh my God, God, I have been conditioned. This little ‘I’ that I think I am is a little bit of a mess, and I need Your help.”

To get through this, I am just going to say it straight: “Hello, hello God, by whatever name we call You. Thank You. I am so very humbled by my life and my karma. Now I get it.” That is that coming to our knees. That is that surrender of finally realizing, “I have just been looping around in all kinds of endless cycles of suffering at my own hand. I did not even know it.”

So we get to work. We get humble. We open our mind and our heart. Then the gift that comes back to us is, “Hey, I get to love myself. I get to appreciate myself. I get to grow in mercy and grace for myself, and then I can extend that love and compassion out to others as I do so.” In this amazing journey, this amazing video game, this amazing play—whatever it is that this construct is that we are in—it is a doozy.

You can test out that the inner reflects the outer by noticing the synchronicities. I am sure you have had many synchronicities, whether it is numbers repeating themselves on license plates and clocks and everywhere else, kind of going “beep beep,” trying to give you a little signal, or people showing up at an interesting time, or the right book falling off the shelf at the right time. There is a higher aspect of you, and of us, that is watching and that is helping, and it is waiting for you to listen to it, to speak to it, to connect with it, to help you on your path. There is no more important thing that we can do at this time, or any time. That is the primary job. Everything else—the rest—are details.

Yes, yes: uncovering the Divine inside of you. It is a process, and it could happen all at once. Who knows what is going to happen with each being? We have all probably had little moments of opening where, all of a sudden, that beautiful energy and that higher perspective come in and we rest in that for a moment, and then we are like, “Whoa, where did that come from?” I expect that there will be more and more moments like that.

In the meantime, if you are in a place where things feel difficult, where there is despair or chaos or uncertainty or franticness or nervousness or grief or anger or frustration around any aspect of life, know that all is well. Know that all is well. Know that these things are indicating something that wants to be reconciled within you. It is funny, because some of the old religious words really do turn out to have meaning. The word “reconciliation” is a word that I believe is in the Catholic tradition, and it is literally what is happening: we are reconciling ourselves with that Divine—minus the guilt, thank you very much. We are reconciling ourselves to the truth.

We also call it recalibration. We are recalibrating to this higher knowledge, this higher wisdom, this higher understanding, and kind of sorting out—just like a fine clock. If you recalibrate a clock or a watch, you are putting all the pieces back in order so that they work well together again. This is what the ancient sciences knew how to help people do. They knew how to help anybody create prosperity by understanding their own astrological birth chart in the Vedic tradition and really refine what they were doing in life based on who they are, as their birth chart depicts. Lo and behold, things that seemed insurmountable can be tweaked by simple things like a certain spelling of a name, even a certain location to live in, a certain business name that you give your business, a certain mantra that you chant that helps balance out the negative karma for you personally.

This is all very, very fascinating, and I feel like I am just on the very tip of the iceberg of understanding, but I am deeply studying this. You will be hearing more, from time to time, about my findings about these ancient sciences and how they help create a world of beauty and peace. Why are we here in form? Ought we not be joyful? Ought we not be plentiful? Ought we not be fulfilled? These are all high aspects reflective of that joyful, ineffable, peaceful, harmonious divinity in Divine order.

So we call upon Divine order for our lives now, and we watch the magic begin as we do things in the right order. The primary right order is to go to that Divine within first—as a primary act for our day, for our week, for a month, for a year, for any project that we are tuning in to—and we are loving that Lord, that God, within us. We are understanding on some level that it is us, and we are asking to awaken more and more to that truth while we also remain humble. In our current state, we are more like children of the Divine, and it is like our Parent guiding us home. But that Presence will guide us more and more into the realization of our spiritual maturity, into the awakening to these truths, if we desire that, if we let it, if we allow it.

They say you can drag a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. So this does not mean that Mom and Dad and family members and other people are going to do it just because we are. We have to be bold and go where no human has gone before—well, actually, a few humans have gone there before, thank goodness, blazing the trail. That is why we can rely on them as well: these beloved beings, these masters of light and love who have broken through with the machete. They are out there, in the deep subconscious patterning of the collective consciousness of humanity, cutting holes in it so we can have a greater chance at breaking through ourselves and experiencing that liquid liberation of love, that divinity, that purity, that essential essence of oneness with All That Is, without distortion.

And so it is.
